ECM wins 2014 EGBC Award
We’re green and we’ve got the credentials to prove it. On 11 June at a gala dinner in the Grosvenor House, ECM was honoured with the very first Green Facility Management Organization of the Year award.
The award is in recognition of our efforts to ensure that sustainable principles, strategies, and practices are fundamental to how we maintain our communities – currently comprising 35,000 homes and 100,000 residents.
Some of our initiatives in 2013 included a drive to remove invasive Damas trees, an edutainment event for younger residents, as well as campaigns and community projects to conserve water and energy. These efforts are complemented by our focus on renewable energy initiatives, recycling and waste management. Proof of the innovative quality of our sustainability practices was the fact that we competed with some of the leading facility management companies in the UAE and still came out on top.
We are thankful to our staff, service providers, and ultimately the residents of our communities to whom we owe this prestigious award.
About the EGBC Awards Program
The Emirates Green Building Councils (EmiratesGBC) was formed in 2006 with the goal of advancing green building principles for protecting the environment and ensuring sustainability in the United Arab Emirates. The EGBC Awards Program honours companies that demonstrate clear implementation of sustainable design, construction and/or operation of buildings and structures. Its ultimate goal is to help establish a regional model for a sustainable built environment that is world class and replicable.
The awards are open to all organisations including public and private sector enterprises, associations, consultants, and practitioners who are able to clearly demonstrate innovation and a high level of excellence in sustainable principles and practices in the MENA Region.
