ECM launches Eco Kids Save The World Campaign 2012
We've been working with a focus on sustainability and eco-friendliness for a while – which includes educating not only our staff, but our residents too. With a view to address the youngsters directly, who would then educate their parents, 2012 saw us launch the Eco Kids Save The World Campaign.
Through the drive, colourful cartoons depicted easy ways to save energy, such as switching off lights when not in use and closing water taps when brushing teeth. The campaign culminated in an art contest where those up to the age of 12 sent us drawings of how they could help save the environment. There was an exhibition at Dubai Marina Mall on 26 June 2012 followed by an award ceremony for all of the participants.
Of course, there have been many other initiatives since then, but most recently, we formed an official ECM committee of ambassadors to drive the eco-friendly message through all aspects of our business. Their role is to represent and nurture sustainability practices and to encourage the use of various types of environment friendly and recyclable products such as LED lights, paper bags, solar panels and recycled paper.
While the mission is serious, the idea is to make the initiative enjoyable and continue to educate everyone on some of the small changes that can make a big difference to the environment.
