Eco Kids Save the World – 2014
Little boys and girls drew, painted, sculpted and modeled – all for the sake of their environment and world. These young residents are from homes and schools across Emaar’s Arabian Ranches, Emirates Living, Downtown Dubai, The Greens & Views and Dubai Marina communities and they were part of the ECO KIDS Save the World 2014 campaign by Emaar Community Management. As part of the campaign, more than 7000 flyers, posters and EDMs were distributed in the preceding week, across its communities and schools with colourful cartoon strips, explaining easy ways to save energy.
Also part of the UAE Green Festival, Emaar resounded its commitment to sustainability and the environment through its community-wide Eco Kids Art and Sculpture Competition for young enthusiasts up to 14 years of age, based on the theme 'How can you help save the environment?'
The participants, who ranged from 3 to 14 years of age, created models from old toys, shoe boxes, plastic bottles, soda cans and paintings on the damage to Earth’s green cover and ways in which they wanted to save water, electricity and energy. Shortlisted artworks were put up for display during a three-day exhibition at the atrium of the Dubai Marina Mall.
The much awaited Awards Ceremony on 29 March 2014 marked the climax of the campaign with participants walking home with exciting prizes and eco-friendly goodie bags. Seventeen budding artists were awarded with Emaar gift cards, certificates and a special goodie bag at the ceremony in Dubai Marina Mall.
One of many initiatives, Emaar has been a forerunner in creating greener and sustainable communities with a focus on efficient use of resources.
