New Palms Are Here

50 new trees have been along the main road near the central park, near the lakes, and numerous other locations. The fronds (leaves) of new trees are usually tied up for several weeks for a number of reasons.

Young trees are still vulnerable, with tender fronds (leaves) growing out of the centre of the crown. Tying up the surrounding fronds helps protect them.
The root system is still developing and with the fronds wrapped, the tree can dedicate more energy into reestablishing the roots after planting.
Tying up the fronds also helps slow down water loss during those crucial first few weeks.
